International education technology conference draws thousands of attendees

LAS VEGAS, NV- ÌòÒõÊÓƵ President Sandra K. Woodley will serve on a presidents and provosts panel as well as give a solo presentation this week at , which is the annual user conference for ., and one of the largest education technology conferences of the year. The conference runs from July 15-17 in Las Vegas, Nevada, and will feature over 200 sessions.

Over 3,000 administrators, academic leaders, instructors and technical experts from around the world attend BbWorld to network with their peers and share best practices. The program focuses on key issues in education including student retention, mobile technology, online programs and analytics. BbWorld also includes dedicated session tracks designed specifically for students, teachers and faculty, education technology professionals and developers, and administrators and academic leaders at the K-12 and higher education levels.    

“The higher education community is very focused right now on ramping up job connections for graduates.  I am excited to share the collaborative approach our state is taking to address that issue as well as the unique technology-driven solutions the ÌòÒõÊÓƵ is exploring to match students with potential employers,” said Woodley.

At 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 16, President Woodley will participate in a panel discussion titled, “Connecting Students to Employers.”  Along with fellow panelists Wilbur Wright College President David Potash and a representative from Zappos, Inc., Woodley will discuss how institutions can go beyond the traditional career planning office model to service a larger and more varied student population with their career development needs.

At 2:15 p.m., on Wednesday, July 16, President Woodley will give a solo presentation on Louisiana’s Workforce and Innovation for a Stronger Economy (WISE) initiative.  Specifically, President Woodley will focus on how WISE can leverage job market information to drive curricular offerings-and ensure that students graduate with the marketable skills needed to secure a job and succeed in the career world.
